What are websites?

A website is a collection of related webpages, images, videos or other digital assets that are adressed relative to a common Uniform Resource Locator (URL).

A website can handle any subject, it may have commercial, informative or entertainment value.

It was born in 1990, but its democratization took place in 1993. There are now more than 300 millions of websites in the world and websites really made the world wide web.

Nowadays, everybody can create a website. A web site is hosted on at least one web server, accessible via the internet or a private local area network. Websites provides access to information and give the choice to share ideas and knowledge.

However, freedom of expression and websites'democratization has also promote deviance. Some sites deal with dangerous subjects or provide false information.
