Darts and Side Seams: The darts and side seams are sewn together with the sewing machine and then ironed out.

Hem: The hem if folded in and sewn either by hand or using the sewing machine.

Zip Fastener: The zip fastener is tacked at the designated place and then sewn from the right side. A special sewing foot is used for it.

Waistband: It is recommended to work with a waistband interfacing (Vilene) when doing the waistband. The interfacing is ironed onto the designated piece of fabric and then sewn electrically.

Lining: It is good to use lining for the skirt. The lining, like the skirt, is cut and sewn according to the pattern.

Closures for Waistband: The waistband can be closed with either a buttonhole and button, or with a hook-and-eye-closure. Recommended is the closure by means of button and buttonhole.
