This course is suitable for people new to winemaking and for those with wider experience wanting to make wine with different flavours and fruits.

What is the aim of the course?

The course provides learners with the detail of ingredients, tools and skills needed for basic winemaking. Once you can make this wine, others will be possible!

Which basic knowledge, tools and materials are needed?

The course is online so you will need a computer with Internet access to follow this course.

Check you have the correct programmes on your PC / laptop to access all the elements (check what is already available on your PC before you download them )

Specialist winemaking equipment is available to buy online or in specialist shops

 

You should have the following equipment:

  • Large fermentation bin or bucket (plastic)
  • Wooden spoon or masher
  • good water supply
  • fine mesh bag
  • fermentation jar (glass)
  • fermentation lock
  • sterilizing solution
  • dark bottles
  • corks or screw tops for bottles

 

Ingredients:

  • 2KG or 4.5lbs Blackberries
  • 4.5 Ltr or 1Gallon of water
  • 1 lemon
  • 5ml or 1 tsp pectin destroying enzyme
  • 1.1KG or 2.5lbs Sugar
  • 5ml or 1tsp Yeast and Yeast nutrient

The course is an online course, available on the internet and is structured modularly. It is best viewed by following the order suggested, especially recommended for beginners. Most steps are illustrated with digital photographs.
