How do computers work?

A computer is a machine that can collect, store and work on information of all sorts such as numbers, text, photos, sounds and videos.

All computers have a

  • a hard disk:  A magnetic disk on which you can store computer data.

  • a memory: is the storage unit where results or other data are stored

  • a processor carries out the instructions of a computer program

  • a monitor: It's your computer screen.

  • a keyboard: you can write a text, make calculations or perform various operations on your computer, like saving a document.

  • a mouse: This is your computer’s hand, it allows using an arrow to direct you and perform all operations on your screen.
