Covering the Chair in White

Cut the Muslin

For this chair, cut the muslin to 70cm in length and width. Fold the muslin in two to mark an indent which corresponds to the centre.

If you do not see the mark of the axis, redo it with a pencil on the frame of the seat in the front and back.

Place the Muslin on the Foam

Place the muslin on the foam and tack the middle of the muslin with tacks on the marked axis. do the same in the back.

Retake the muslin in the front, stroke with you hand over the fabric with a slight pressure to shape the fabric without deforming the foam. Tack the muslin in the front with tacks and continue on the side in the same manner.

The Back Corners

For the back corners, fold the muslin, cut the triangle at 45° from the centre to the frame of the seat. Fold the muslin inwards and tack the fabric on the corner of the chair to make a proper corner.

Staple the Muslin

Once the fabric is tacked and all corners are perfectly made, you can staple the muslin.

Staple one side of the chair by stretching the muslin without making any bumps. Then, staple the opposite side and continue with the other sides.

When finished, cut the remainders of the fabric along the staples.

The Front Corners

To do the front corners of the chair, cut the fabric 5cm from the edge (the length of a finger), fold the muslin inwards and close the corner.

In order to mark the corner, do not hesitate to take a pointy object (a regulator). Staple the muslin at the corner.

Attention: it is important to not stretch the muslin too much; otherwise it will harden the foam. It is the hand that removes all imperfections.
