For whom is this course?

The course is for anyone who has always wanted to know how to renovate something and want to upholster something themselves.

What is the purpose of this course?

This course is about upholstering a Louis XIII chair following a traditional repair method with current materials. You'll get an overview of the steps involved as well as of this traditional craft.

What basic knowledge, tools and materials are needed?

The course is an online course and it is available on the Internet. For this course, you need a computer with access to the Internet. On this computer, the following software should be installed (make sure before what software you have.)

• Adobe PDF Reader
• Media Player (VLC Player or Real Player or Windows Media Player)

You need to make calculations when you take measurements and dexterous. You need the following tools and materials:

• Elastic and cotton strapping
• Chip foam
• Sheet of foam of 3 cm thickness and of 25 kg and 40 kg density respectively
• Sheet of foam of 8 cm thickness and of 35 kg density
• 1 m² of Dacron wrapping
• Muslin
• Neoprene glue
• Glue brush
• Staple gun
• Staples of 6 and 8 mm
• Decorative tacks or cord for finishing

The chair will be stripped in advance (wooden mallet, combination tool, pair of pincers). The wood has to be glued on if necessary and tinted or treated according to one's taste.

How is the course structured?

The course is an online course. It is available on the Internet and it is structured in a modular format. You can either follow individual chapters or follow the proposed sequence that we recommend to beginners. All steps are explained, illustrated, or recorded on video. You can always switch between the individual chapters.
